Support for Challenging Behaviours in Children, Teenagers and Adults with Disability
Some individuals living with disability—whether children, teens or adults—may display behaviours that are distressing or difficult for those around them. These behaviours are often complex, unpredictable, and can sometimes cause harm to themselves or others. In many cases, they can also limit a person’s ability to connect with others, affecting their safety, wellbeing, and relationships.
Challenging behaviours are frequently misunderstood, which can lead to stress, frustration and anxiety for families and carers. That’s why creating a safe, supportive environment—and using positive, proactive strategies—is so important. With the right approach, it’s possible to reduce risk, increase wellbeing, and even prevent difficult behaviours from occurring.
NDIS Behaviour Support with Home Caring
Everyone deserves to feel safe and respected—including individuals who display challenging behaviours. Behaviour Support under the NDIS exists to help people with disability express themselves freely, live independently, and enjoy a higher quality of life—while also equipping their support network with the right tools.
Finding Care offers specialist Behaviour Support services for people of all ages. Our approach is person-centred, supportive, and designed to create lasting positive change.
We work closely with individuals, families, carers and other professionals to understand behaviour at its root and to create tailored plans that deliver meaningful outcomes.

What is Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)?
Positive Behaviour Support is an NDIS-funded service designed to help individuals with cognitive, intellectual or psychosocial disability develop better ways to manage their emotions and interact with the world. It focuses on building skills, enhancing quality of life, and reducing the need for restrictive practices.
Under the NDIS Capacity Building budget, PBS provides:
Strategies that promote independence and wellbeing
Support that builds confidence and life skills
A collaborative, person-first approach to managing behaviour
A clear plan that prioritises safety while respecting dignity and freedom
At Finding Care, we work with participants, families and healthcare teams to develop and implement PBS plans that truly support the individual—helping them grow, thrive and connect with their community.
